The Microbiology Laboratory is a major testing component of the National Standards Laboratory (NSL) and strictly complies with
ISO 17025:2005 international standards in laboratory practices. Its goal is to provide quality microbiological testing
services to protect consumers’ economic interest, verify producer claims, and ensure products do not contain harmful microbial contamination.

Confirming producer label claims through recognised microbiological methods.
Ensuring products do not contain microbial contamination beyond acceptable limits.

Food Matrices
Food products received for analysis include cereals, rice, grains, milk and milk products, fish, meat, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic),
juices, water, flour, vegetable oil, palm oil, garri, cocoa and coffee products, spices, nuts, and other related products.

Sample Details
Samples submitted for microbiological testing must maintain their original integrity. A minimum sample size of 350–400 grams is acceptable for analytical purposes.
Reports & Results
Samples are typically analysed within 72–168 hours (3–7 days) depending on parameters, quantity, and nature of tests. Test results and reports are highly confidential, and customer identity is protected under our confidentiality bond.
