CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

Food Safety & Quality Infrastructure Programs

In an effort to ensure that the quality infrastructure of Liberia is fully built and aligned with international standards, the National Standards Laboratory of Liberia has developed a series of programs aimed at upgrading the technical skills, knowledge, and processes of food producing industries and regulatory inspectors involved in food safety and public health.

A. Technical Support to Food Producing Industries in Liberia

This program provides technical guidance and training support to food producing industries to enhance the production of safe food and improve compliance with national and international food safety standards.

Objectives

  • Provide technical services to enhance safe food production.
  • Acquaint staff with ISO 22000:2005 and HACCP principles.
  • Empower industries to comply with food safety regulations.
  • Reduce contamination risks and health effects of unsafe food.
  • Support implementation of National Food Safety Guidelines.
  • Strengthen industries towards HACCP and ISO certification.

B. Regulatory Bodies’ Inspectors Training Program

This program focuses on strengthening the technical competence of regulatory inspectors through training in proper sample management, inspection principles, and laboratory quality standards.
